The FCA-Ghana library is a resource and knowledge centre around which programming on research, documentation, art talks, critique clinics, lectures, publications and presentations revolve. It is by far the most extensive art library in Accra and Ghana as a whole, filling the void for the much needed critical text on art in Ghana. Housed in the FCA-Ghana’s project space on the grounds of the W.E.B. Dubois Centre for Pan – African Culture, Accra, the library before it was destroyed, had over 3000 books,magazines and journals covering all aspects of contemporary visual arts and culture. The library grew to become a very important educational and knowledge resource for artists, curators, students, researchers and other art professionals. It supports the local art practice with access to critical text, audio and visual art materials and furthers engagement in the global conversations of contemporary art.

This resource centre is also interested in research and publications that focus on contemporary art, culture and history of Ghana.  The ‘Africa/ Africa Diaspora’ section of the library was a growing collection of text and others relating to the practice of artists working in Africa and its Diaspora.  There is a peculiar interest in expanding this particular section because of the often lack or inaccessibility of text and other materials on the works and practice of ‘African artists’ and its Diaspora.

The library is open to all interested in research, art, visual culture, theory, philosophy, history, and education both locally and internationally. Library membership is currently free.
